Why Being With Matters More Than Doing For
In the world of parenting—especially parenting a non-speaking autistic child—there’s so much pressure to do:
📌 Do more therapy.
📌 Do more interventions.
📌 Do more teaching.
But often, what our children need most isn’t us doing—it’s us being.
True connection begins when we slow down enough to be present, not as teachers or therapists, but as witnesses to who our children already are. Presence builds trust. It says:
💛 “You are enough, exactly as you are.”
💛 “I see you.”
💛 “I’m here with you, not trying to fix you.”
When we offer presence, we open the door to deeper communication, regulation, and joy. It’s the stillness between words where meaning flows.
✨ This week, I invite you to gift yourself and your child moments of pure presence. Put aside the goals and to-do lists. Just sit, notice, breathe, and be together. You may be surprised at how much “speaks” in the silence.
